Arrive very early so you can find parking, the free parking lot by the dock is small and fills up quick. The price is cheap so it’s understandable why there are cheap plastic chairs for us to sit in. Our tour guide was amazing. Don’t remember her name but she said she was moving to Africa soon. She was so knowledgeable, funny, even her not funny jokes were funny…. If you know what I mean. She let us enjoy the view of the bats for a good while and she even took us further out rather than just doing circles around the same spot like I saw the other boats do. Our tour guide alone deserves FIVE stars. The experience once out on the water was also a FIVE star. Loved hearing about the city of Austin. It’s only a three star because you get what you pay for. Seats were cheap, waiting to leave was kind of chaotic.
The weather was so perfect the day we decided to take the cruise/tour, that we're so glad we did. Our Captain/Guide was witty and informative. She gave us great tips on where to shop, which watering holes that are worth the visit, and locations of where one can find amazing tacos or Tex-Mex. We took the afternoon tour, but I wouldn't mind coming back in the evening to see how beautiful the city looks during the sunset hours. Definitely worth your time and I highly recommend Lone Star Riverboat Cruises to anyone visiting from out of town.
Inexpensive and totally worth it! Tour guide and captain we’re both great, extremely knowledgeable about this city. My kids (6 & 3)both enjoyed it! Top deck is beautiful and downstairs has air-conditioning if you need a break from the sun. We’ll do this again next spring!
We did the Lone Star Riverboat Cruise this weekend with our family for Spring Break. Maverick was our tour guide. This is absolutely the BEST way to see the bats!! It was an amazing experience. Maverick gave us so much fun and interesting information about Austin and the skyline. My kids referred to the stuff they learned the rest of the trip! My only comments would be that the seating is tricky for families. The chairs are in rows of three which made it hard for our family of four. Also once the bats started flying, it would have been nice to have a bit of quiet to just enjoy them. Overall however we are so glad we booked this experience! A definite must!
What a great experience! We had a full hour cruise where we could bring our own drinks, learned a lot about the history of the city and its skyline, and got to see the bats all fly at sunset - all for $15! A must do if you’re here the right time of year.
If you're not familiar with Austin, this is a good tour. The hostess/tour guide was informative, witty, and funny. She used a lot of humor and had great punchlines throughout. The boat itself was clean and well-maintained. I think the tour was big on information but short on actual travel distance. I would never ride it again though.
Easy online reservation. Water was very calm and made the ride smooth. Tour guide was pretty knowledgeable, unfortunately because of the weather we couldn't see the bats. Lots of good scenic spots for pictures.
Visited Austin around Christmas time and wanted to book a nice experience for me and my girlfriend. The location was very easy to find and the staff was friendly as soon as they saw us walking towards the dock. The booking experience is very simple and the captain answered any questions we had. Since it was around Christmas time, they played Christmas music as well! The BYOB is a nice touch as we brought two bottles of wine and the staff provided cups and also had other drinks available. Would definitely book again! The ride provided a beautiful view of Austin.
Made reservations since we were visiting out of town and wanted to explore Austin. Went on the sunset cruise and thoroughly enjoyed the beautiful city views, learning about Austin & the bats and the gorgeous scenery. Our tour guide was great, funny and informative. Highly recommended!!

We really enjoyed our bat tour and architecture history from the river boat! Our guide was fun and engaging. The bats were so amazing to see and we learned so much. Highly recommend doing this as part of your Austin visit.
